OBJECTIVES:

 

  • Describe the role of PAWSIC and the SF Special Interest Group (SF SIG), including vision, mission and purpose.
    • Position Paper with Consensus Statements

    • International collaboration.

  • Discuss the historical evolution of SF, including foundational models, terminology and literature.

  • Langemo Brown Skin Failure Model used for code proposal - acute-chronic- end-stage (define, discuss, address concurrent condition as source of acute-chronic-end-stage terminology)

  • Identify the clinical, ethical, regulatory, reimbursement, policy, and legal implications of SF recognition and documentation.

  • Demonstrate the importance of early clinical recognition of SF for patient care, regulatory compliance, and legal risk mitigation.

  • Explain how to assess for SF, distinguish it from pressure injuries (PIs), and understand contributing systemic factors such as organ dysfunction, distinguish it from pressure injuries (PIs) and other wounds of uncertain etiologies" [ to be consistent with the PAWSIC Skin Failure Clinical Assessment Guide]
